Stop The Bite

Press Forward Youth

Press Forward Youth

Adapted from “Press Forward Saints, Hymn book p. 81

Press forward youth, with steadfast faith in Christ.

With cove-nants firm and bright in heart and mind.

With love of God, and love of all man-kind.

Al-le-lu-ia! Al-le-lu-ia! Al-lelu-ia!

Press on and cove-nant in the ways of Christ.

Receive His name, rejoicing in His might.

Cove-nant with God; and earn eternal life!

Al-le-lu-ia! Al-le-lu-ia! Al-lelu-ia!

Trek Theme Song

2013 Pioneer Trek Theme Song

Long ago they walked this path with hope in their hearts.

Not knowing what lay ahead, but no afraid to start.

Every step they took in faith with Zion in their view,

They’d do anything that the Lord would have them do.

Chorus 1

They were pioneers pushing on together.

Shining as a light for all the world.

With strength they faced their fears

With faith they climbed each mountain,

And their footprints would show other’s the way.

As they lived a legacy of faith.

Hungry and cold. Not much to eat.

He feels he can’t go on, every step burns his feet.

Something pushes hi forward, his cart moving on its own.

He looks back, no one's there, but he knows he’s not alone.

Chorus 1

We’re pioneers. In modern day.

Every step and choice we make leave footprints long the way.

Now’s the time to share the truth, and live the gospel plan.

Valiant and courageous, holy places we will stand.

Chorus 2

We are pioneers pushing on together.

Shining as a light for all the world.

With strength we’ll face our fears

With faith we’ll climb each mountain.

And our footprints will show others the way,

As we live a legacy of faith.

We may not have to face the trials our ancestors went through,

But just like them, we’ll do what the Lord would have us do.

Chorus 2

Update!

We are so thankful to Sister Jolene Allphin for her wonderful fireside.
We could feel the spirit of the people she talked about and we share our love for them and their sacrifices.

We are getting ready for the Trek.
 At the fireside we showed you;
 clothes to wear,
the bucket that needs to be made,
what a journal could look like,
posters reminding us to get a name to travel for,
and purchase some good shoes!
OH, and better get exercising...

NOW:
It was 102 days until the Trek on the Sunday we had Sister Allphine.  It is now 94 days until we leave.
We are all preparing in our Ward's with activities  getting  us ready.

THEN:
Willie loses many oxen overnight during a severe storm.
They have experienced a buffalo stampede during the day, which had further encouraged the cattle to leave.
They spend several days looking for the lost cattle with no success.
100 lb bags of flour and other provisions are loaded onto handcarts as milk cows and heifers are hitched to the provision wagons.

Thanks Everyone for the views and keep spreading the word to others to GET PREPARED!! We are getting so so very close! Isnt it so exciting?? We love you all! Have a wonderful rest of March!

Weird, i know right? Actually doing something with our lives. Just kidding;)  I know that you all already work hard but here we are, giving you this awesome experience and we just want it to be the best thing that could possibly happen in your life, not to brag or anything.
So, here is what YOU can do.  FIRESIDE!! Show up!! Oh wait when is it you ask? Pay attention in Young Men and Young Womans because us super heroes were there, and we told you all about it! But because we are such kind and loving people we will tell you again.  FEBRUARY 24TH, 5 PM, CHURCH CLOTHES, STAKE CENTER, EVERYONE IS INVITED! :) and we are super excited because the amazing Jollene Allphin is coming! and she has so many awesome stories and things to tell us! We have also asked a stake in Salem to join us because really, the more the better.  Plus they will be at Martins Cove at the same time we will so that's pretty awesome that we are letting them come! Hey! Know what else you could do? Find her book! its awesome! and it will help you get your 'extra mile' award! its called Tell My Story, Too and it has a ton of helpful things to help you find some stories if you had ancestors in those hand cart companies.
Which brings me to the next item.  Find an ancestor you want to walk for! No, This doesn't mean that they had to have been in the Willy Martin Hand Cart Company but if they are, that's just a bonus! For Pete's sake, i'm not even walking for a girl ancestor! Ha ha that's silly you think but its not!! Know their story! Know their relatives! Contact John and Rilla Hawkins if your having troubles finding someone or their story! They are thee nicest people you will meet and they know so much and they are hilarious!:)
AND DON'T FORGET YOUR PERIOD CLOTHING! Its so SUPER important that you have your own period clothing by April 1st! if you are having trouble finding period clothing, just you wait.  The stake Young Womans Presidency is putting together a packet of information for all of you! Go to the D.I., everyone loves going Thrift Shopping, why not get some pioneer clothing while your there!:) or there are plenty of websites online or stores but seriously even ask your grandpa for his hand-me-downs!;)
